Western Design Conference 2009

For the fifth consecutive year, Dr. Jim Ciaavella and DR. C's DESIGNS is a juried artist in the 17th annual Western Design Conference to be held again in Jackson Hole, Wyoming September 10-12, 2009. The Western Design Conference is the preeminent exhibition of the finest of western design in the world. The show brings together crafts people, scholars, collectors, interior designers, architects and fashion designers with an interest in the west. His work was chosen to be featured in the 2005 and 2006 Sourcebook for the conference.

"Buffalo Country"

"Buffalo Country" This 50"x27" floor mirror is supported by a leather trimmed easel and was the pedastal piece for Dr. C for the 2008 Western Design Conference. It features a reclaimed and refurbished saddle shoulder and is covered with 10-12 oz saddle leather newly tooled, carved and fashioned by the artist. The buffalo images are all of original design from original artwork drawn or painted by the artist. All conchos are sterling silver and the buffalo conchos-a Dr. C exclusive-are of historic significance. It contains a beveled glass mirror and is trimmed on all edges with custom upholstery nails that are replics of the buffalo nickel. Revolver Hat Rack and Mirror

This custom hat rack mirror made for the Jackson Fork ranch is 48" tall and approx. 34" wide. It is covered with hand tooled and dyed 10 ounce saddle leather and trimed with fine black upholstery leather.

Moose Cigar Humidor

This particular humidor, tooled and carved with a Moose motif is sold. WHen lined with Spanish cedar for a cigar humidor, they come with the humidifier and humidity gauge. However, for the non-cigar smokers, I do many of these lined with leather and customized by placing your initials or brand on the top or inside the lid. All done in leather. Elk Antlers

This genuine elk antler mirror measures 27"x33", not counting the horns. It is joined by a hand tooled leather collar and mounted on tanned elk hide with western lacing. A carved elk head in saddle leather and genuine elk buttons are also featured at the bottom of the frame. $1400. Allow 6 weeks for delivery.

Who is Jim Ciaravella?

Dr. Jim Ciaravella is a retired cardiac surgeon with a passion for the old west. He spends much of his time in the Jackson Hole, Wyoming area, where he practices his art. Using hand tooled saddle leather, animal hides, boot leather, chaps, conchos, spurs, and other unique artifacts, Jim creates western furnishings and apparel that are both beautiful and functional.

Whether your home has a western, southwestern, or ecclectic theme, Jim's western style furniture makes for practical home furnishings and excellent conversation pieces.
